British MPs’ support sought for Rohingya repatriation

DHAKA: Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen sought assistance of British MPs on repatriation of Rohingyas who fled to Bangladesh facing atrocity in Rakhine state of Myanmar.

Meanwhile, British MPs have said they will continue to support Bangladesh's development.

A press release of Foreign Ministry disclosed the information on Monday (September 16).

Foreign Minister Dr. AK Abdul Momen had a meeting with a delegation of the British Parliament visiting Bangladesh.

In the meeting held at the Foreign Ministry conference room, Dr Momen highlighted the Rohingya situation. He sought the assistance of British MPs for safe and dignified return of the Rohingyas to Myanmar.

The UK MPs assured that London will continue to work with Dhaka for ensuring safe return of Rohingyas to Myanmar.

They highly praised Bangladesh’s role in hosting 10-lakh Rohingyas with shelter and all kinds of humanitarian assistance.

Praising the socio-economic development of Bangladesh, British MPs, during the meeting, said that they will be supporting the further development of Bangladesh.
