New PSC member Golam Faruk takes oath

DHAKA: Former senior secretary Golam Faruk took oath as a member of Bangladesh Public Service Commission (PSC) on Sunday (September 15).

Chief Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain administered the oath at a ceremony around 3:30pm at Supreme Court Judges’ Lounge, conducted by Supreme Court Registrar General Dr Md Jakir Hossain.

Appellate Division judges, PSC chairman Dr Mohammad Sadique, PSC members and other officials are among others attended the occasion.

Earlier on September 4, the government appointed Senior Secretary Golam Faruk, who was on post-retirement leave (PRL), as a member of Bangladesh Public Service Commission.

As per the Article 138 (1) of the Constitution, President M Abdul Hamid cancelled the PRL of Faruk and appointed him on condition of cancellation of all work relation with other institutions or organisations. 

The ministry of public administration issued a gazette notification in this regard on Wednesday (Sep 4). 

Faruk's tenure will be for five years from his joining date or till he reaches 65 years of age.
