DHAKA: Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Mayor Md Atiqul Islam termed the prevention of dengue menace a major challenge and said all have to work in cooperation to overcome it.

"I want to make Dhaka a clean city. All have to come forward to make it happen," he said.

The mayor, as the chief guest, was speaking at the inaugural ceremony of Business Leaders' Carnival 2019, first of its kind in Bangladesh, at International Convention City-Bashundhara (ICCB) Saturday (September 14) morning. 

The carnival was jointly organized by Society for Leadership Skills Development (SLSD) and AN Affairs.

Students, professionals, academicians, businessmen, industrialists, media personalities and civil society figures attended the carnival   chaired by SLSD Founding President and CEO Prof Moinuddin Chowdhury.

"Let promise in today's carnival that we won't throw a single piece of dirty paper to the ground," Atiqul Islam called upon the attendees.

However, the country is still counting dengue deaths in various districts weeks after the mosquito-borne disease' terrible outbreak said to be the largest in history of Bangladesh.
