CUMILLA: Seven persons including six members of a family were killed as a bus collided with a CNG-driven auto-rickshaw and a microbus in Lalmai upazila of Cumilla Sunday (August 18). Two others were injured.

The accident happened in Bagmara area around 11:45pm.

Lalmai Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Badrul Alam confirmed the matter to Banglanews.

The deceased were identified as Jashim Uddin, 45, his wife Selina Begum, 40, mother-in-law Sokina Begum, sons Shipon, 17 and Hridoy, 15, daughter Nipu Akter 13 and the auto-rickshaw driver Jamal Hossain.

All of them were residents of Nanggolkote upazila. They were on the auto-rickshaw which was rammed by a bus of Tisha Paribahan.  

Jashim's younger son Rifat and one Shaimun Hossain, 15, who survived the crash, were sent to Dhaka for treatment.

Five of the victims died on the spot and two others succumbed to injuries after being taken to Cumilla Medical College Hospital (CMCH), said Superintendent of Police (SP) Abdullah Al Mamun.
