2 get life in Kushtia drug case

KUSHTIA:  Two persons were sentenced to life in prison by a district court in a drug case.

Judge Arup Kumar Goswami Jonakirno of district and sessions judge’s court of Kushtia delivered the verdict on Sunday (July 21).

The convicts were- Tahajjat Hossain alias Sohel, 40, son of Haji Abdul Malek Mandal of Balidapara village of Mirpur upazila, and Amirul Islam, 28, a microbus driver, son of Arnul Islam Master.

According to court sources, police detained two of them in possession of 202 bottles of Phensidyls in a drive conducted in a microbus on 10 August of 2017.

Later, Kazi Abu Jubair, sub inspector of Mirpur police station, filed the case under narcotics control act.

Anup Kumar Nandi, public prosecutor of Kushtia judge court, said two accused were acquitted in the case.
