7 ‘child abduction’ suspects beaten up by mob

NAOGAON: Mobs beat to injured seven people on suspicion of being child kidnappers in Manda upazila on Sunday (July 21) morning.

Of them, police rescued six from Buridah village of the upazila and another from in front of Mohanagar School from angry locals. 

The victims of lynch-mob are - Saddam, Aslam, Saiful, Abdul Majid, Anisur of Khagra Fayezuddin College area in Naogaon Sadar Upazila, Rezaul Karim of Faradpur village and Abul Kalam Azad of same upazila.

Manda Police Station Officer-in-Charge Muzaffar Hossain confirmed the incident to Banglanews.

The OC said that a group of fishermen caught fish at Pond of one Ranjit in the village of Buridah at night. In the morning, they were heading towards bazar, carrying some fish in a sack. At that time, the villagers chased them on suspicion of child abductors and gave them good beating.

On information, police rescued the fishermen from the villagers and brought them to the police station.

On the other hand, locals caught Abul Kalam Azad from in front of Mohanagar School and handed him over to the police.
