Rifat murder: Rishan Farazi on 5-day remand

BARGUNA: A court here placed Rishan Farazi, one of the main accused in sensational Rifat murder case in Barguna, on a five-day remand for interrogation. 

Barguna senior judicial magistrate court judge Md Sirajul Islam Gazi passed the order on Friday (July 19) morning. 

Police produced the accused before the court with a 10-day remand petition and later after hearing both sides, the court granted a five-day remand for quizzing in the gruesome murder case.

Earlier on Thursday (July 18), police arrested Rishan Farazi in a drive carried out around 10am.

16 accused have been arrested in Rifat murder case, said Superintendent of Police (SP) Maruf Hossain.

"Of them, 10 have confessed before the court their involvement in the killing while four are on remand"

Remand will be sought after producing Rishan before the court, said SP Maruf.  

22-year-old Rifat Sharif from Barguna sadar upazila was allegedly hacked indiscriminately by his wife Minni's alleged former husband Noyon Bond and aides in broad daylight in front of Barguna Government College on June 26.

A shocking video of the brutal attack went viral on the social media, triggering widespread outrage and demands for justice.
