950 villages inundated in Sirajganj

SIRAJGANJ: At lest 950 villages were flooded and all the croplands submerged as water is coming down from hills and water level of Jamuna River is rising.

Around 21000 families are stranded in water.

Jamuna River is flowing 42 cm above danger level at Sirajganj point and 80 cm at Kazipur point on Tuesday (July 16).

“936 villages of 5 upazilas have been inundated so far in Char (bank) regions. Rice and cash money are in store for them. These will be distributed when situations worsen,” District Relief and Rehabilitation Officer Abdur Rahim said.

Deputy Commissioner of Water Development Board KM Rafiqul Islam told Banglanews on Tuesday (July 16).
