Accused killed in N’ganj ‘gunfight’

NARAYANGANJ: A accused was killed in a reported gunfight with Detective Branch of police near microbus stand on Dhaka-Narayanganj link road early on Tuesday (July 16). 

The deceased Biplob, 31, was accused in 14 narcotics cases and a listed drug trader and son of Sultan Miah of Fatulla in Sadar upazila, Kamrul, Sub Inspector of DB police, told Banglanews.

He further said that police conducted a drive in the area to arrest Biplob around 2:30 am. Sensing presence of the law enforcers, criminals opened fire on them, prompting them to retaliate that triggered a gunfight. 

When the criminals backtracked to the scene, police recovered Biplob’s body and a one shooter gun from the spot, he said. 

The SI also claimed that four police officials suffered injuries during the gunfight.
