LALMONIRHAT: Two auto rickshaw passengers were killed and seven others wounded after a truck struck the vehicle at Palashi Bazaar in Aditmari upazila of the district on Wednesday (June 26).

The accident happened on Lalmonirhat-Burimari highway around 7 pm.

The deceased were--Nandu Chandra Roy, 55, son of Bishnath Roy, of Kaliganj upazila and auto-rickshaw driver Rabiul Islam, 42, son of Nur Uddin of the same village.

Among the seven injured, four of them are in critical conditions as they are undergoing treatment at Aditmari and Rangpur Medical College Hospital (RMCH), Saiful Islam, officer-in-charge of Aditmari police station, told Banglanews.

Protest brought out on both sides of the highway, blocking movement of hundreds of trucks and buses. Police are trying to calm the situation, OC said.
