DIG Mizanur suspended DIG Mizanur

DHAKA: Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of police Mizanur Rahman was suspended as of Tuesday (June 25) after getting approval from the President Abdul Hamid.

“DIG Mizanur Rahman was suspended. No one can be completely dismissed until the allegation is proved. A notification has been issued on Tuesday,” Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan told media on Tuesday (June 25).

Asaduzzaman Khan said: “After the suspension, preparations are underway to file a departmental case against DIG Mizan, as the next step. For the time being, he will be attached to the Police Headquarters.”

Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) filed a case against DIG Mizanur Rahman, his wife, brother and nephew allegedly for concealing information of Tk 3 crore and amassing over Tk 3 crore beyond known source of income.

Director of Dhaka Coordinated District Office-1 of ACC, Manjur Morshed, filed the case (Case No. 1) on Monday (June 24).

ACC’s deputy director and public relations officer Pranab Kumar Bhattacharya confirmed the matter to Banglanews.

The accused were--DIG Mizanur Rahman, his wife Sohelia Aner Ratna, nephew SI Mahmudul Hasan and younger brother Mahbubur Rahman.

ACC interrogated DIG Mizanur Rahman on charge of amassing illegal wealth on May 3 of last year.

Spark created after news had published on a national daily in 2018 about his forceful marriage of a news caster.

Afterwards, an investigation committee was formed over the incident in ACC as well as police headquarters.
