DHAKA: Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) and Bangladesh police will work together to combat terrorism and militancy, said DNCC Mayor Atiqul Islam.
The mayor said this while speaking as the chief guest at a seminar organized by Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) at a city hotel on Monday (June 24).
While speaking at the day-long seminar titled ‘Representatives’ duties to prevent extremism,' Atiqul Islam said: “Since public representatives communicate with the people from all strata of the society, their role in combating terrorism and militancy is very important.”
“So we can help law enforcement agencies in such endeavor,” Atiqul Islam said.
The mayor outlined the importance of sports and cultural activities to fight off terrorism and militancy. “24 DNCC playgrounds are under repair,” the mayor said.
He said he would make arrangement for light so that sport can be played at night.
Urging DMP to raise awareness among students, he emphasized on arranging awareness programs at each school, college, university and madrasa.
