IGP for social protection to prevent drug abuse

FARIDPUR:  Inspector General of Police (IGP) Mohammad Javed Patwari said social protection and family education are needed to combat drug and militancy.

“Drug and militancy is not only a menace for Bangladesh, it’s is a global problem,” IGP) Mohammad Javed Patwari said while speaking at ant-drug, militancy and terrorism community policing conference in Faridpur on Monday (June 24).

The IGP in this regard urged every citizen to contribute (for drug elimination)   from their respective positions.

The IGP said: “Whoever is involved in drug, no one will be spared. Even police member could not get away with it. The special team of police is constantly monitoring to eliminate militancy. There are significant achievements at home and abroad to prevent militant activities.”

Mentioning 100 % success of police in combating militancy, he said police made as much efforts to eliminate militancy as they made to curb drug. Various initiatives were already taken to eliminate drug. On behalf of police, rehabilitation programs were taken to bring those who are engaged in dealing with drug to normal life.
