Moulvibazar train accident: 2 intern nurses among dead

SYLHET: Two of the deceased have been identified among the four after the derailment of an intercity train in Kulaura of Moulvibazar on Sunday (June 23) night.

Deceased Sanjida Akhter and Fahmida Yeasmin Iva were intern nurses of Nursing Institute at Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital.

Assistant Director of Osmani Hospital Abul Kalam Azad confirmed the matter to Banglanews.

29 injured people were taken to Osmani Medical College Hospital. Of them, 8 have been released after primary treatment. 

Two other bodies were expected to be identified soon.

Of the injured, 62 people took primary treatment at Kulaura Upazila Health Complex while others were shifted to different hospitals. 

Later, Bangladesh Railway has formed two separate committees (Zonal and Divisional) to probe into the derailment of an inter-city train in Kulaura upazila that killed four passengers and injured 200 others.

At least four people were killed and around 200 injured as an intercity train derailed at Baramchal in Kulaura upazila on Sunday (June 23) night.

SP Mohammad Shahjalal told Banglanews that five bogies of Dhaka-bound ‘Upaban Express’ train from Sylhet derailed around 11:45pm near  Baramchal Railway Station.

One of the bogies fell into the canal while another overturned.
