DHAKA:  A magistrate of Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) detained a man for excising magistracy power at a restaurant in Gulshan area of the capital after identifying himself a DNCC magistrate.

Mohammad Bin Zahir alias Suman Bhuiyan, who has a fake identity of DNCC’s Executive Magistrate Sarwar, was detained from the restaurant in Gulshan on Tuesday (June 18).

The fake magistrate demanded Taka 10,000 from the restaurant, DNCC’s public relations officer ASM Mamun confirmed the matter to media.

The fake magistrate confessed to his guilt, DNCC's magistrate Sajid Anwar said.

He had been deceiving as a fake magistrate for one year. Two smart phones and a wallet having Taka 11,000 were seized from him.

According to Section 171 of the Penal Code, Suman was sentenced to six months of imprisonment for his false identity and fraud.
