CHAPAINAWABGANJ: Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) sued 10 persons including a former lawmaker of Awami League, over mishandling a land of Hindu monastery in Chapainawabganj.
ACC Combined District Office-Rajshahi Assistant Director Al Amin, as a plaintiff, filed the case with Gomostapur Police Station Tuesday (June 18) noon.
The accused are-- Mahant Sri Khitish Chandra Achari of Rohanpur Mahanta monastery, Muhammad Golam Mostofa Biswas, former lawmaker from Chapainawabganj-2, Pradip Kumar, former sub-registrar of Gomostapur upazila, Baharam Mia, Shafiqul Islam, Akhtarul Islam, Tarikul Islam, Atikur Rahman, Shakib Uddin and Shahjahan Selim.
Gomostapur Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Jashim Uddin told Banglanews that the case was filed on accusation of handing over the land through abusing power.
The case document stated that sebayet (supervisor) Mahant Sri Khitish Chandra Achari handed over 44 acres out of total 179 acres of land of the monastery to eight persons illegally.
