JHENAIDAH: A driver and his helper were killed as a cement laden truck plunged into a canal in Kaliganj upazila of Jhenaidah early Sunday (June 16).

The deceased were identified as Jony Hossain, 32 the driver and Towhidul Islam, 26, the helper.

Kaliganj Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Yunus Ali told Banglanews that the truck was en route to Bheramara upazila of Kushtia, from Khulna, in the morning.

The truck had overturned and plunged into a canal after its front wheel got burst, at a bridge in Salabhora area, leaving Jony and Towhidul dead on the spot.   

The bodies were recovered and sent to Jhenaidah Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsies, added the OC.
