3 'drug dealers' killed in Teknaf 'shootout'

COX'S BAZAR: Three suspected drug dealers were killed in a reported shootout with the members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in Teknaf upazila of Cox's Bazar at early hours of Sunday (June 16).

They were identified as Dil Mohammad, 42, Rashedul Islam, 22 and Shahidul Islam, 42.

RAB-15 Teknaf Camp In-Charge Lt Commander Mirza Shahed Mahtab told Banglanews that on tip-off, a RAB team launched a drive in a hilly area of Shyamlapur of the upazila, to recover yaba.

Sensing presence of the law enforcers, the drug dealers opened fire at them.

RAB fired back, in retaliation.

At the shootout ended, three bullet-hit bodies, 1,40,000 lakh yaba, 4 locally made guns and 21 rounds of bullet were recovered from the spot.

Two RAB members were injured in the shootout, said Mirza Shahed.

The three deceased were blacklisted yaba dealers. Their bodies were sent to Cox's Bazar Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsies, he added.
