MANIKGANJ: A driver and his helper were detained on charge an attempted rape on an expatriate woman in a moving bus in Ghior upazila of Manikganj Friday (June 14) night.

They are identified as-- Nayeb Ali, the driver and Sohag Mia, the helper.

Police said the woman boarded a bus of Swapno Paribahan to go to Ghior, from Manikganj around 9:30pm.

When the bus reached Ghior Steel Bridge after dropping all the passengers, the helper tried to rape the woman with marriage proposal.

As the bus had crossed the bridge, the victim jumped off the running bus.

Sensing the incident, locals and bystanders chased the bus and managed to catch its driver and helper.

They were handed over to police afterwards.

A case was filed over the incident, Ghior Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Ashraful Alam told Banglanews Saturday (June 15) noon.
