3cr employments to be generated by 2030: PM

DHAKA: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina Friday (June 14) said the government will generate employment for 3 crore people by 2030.

In the budget, Tk 100 crore have been allocated for the training and employment of specific group of people, she added. 

Sheikh Hasina was addressing the post-budget press briefing on Friday (June 14) afternoon.

The premier further said the government has been working relentlessly for ensuing electricity in all households. For this, in the budget, we set targets to generate 24,000 megawatts by 2021, 40,000 megawatts by 2030, and 60,000 megawatts by 2041 respectively.

“The government will facilitate qualitative employment for the growing population by effecting reforms in the rest of the laws/rules and policies/strategies within the next 2 years”. 

A three-year programme has been taken up to increase the job creation rate in the industrial sector through improvement of business and investment environment, PM Hasina also said.

Citing that as per demand of education ministry, MPO-enlistment of educational institutions has began, PM Haisna said in FY2019-20, allocation in health sector has been increased. Institutes of Nuclear Medicine and Allied Sciences (INMAS) will be established at the campuses of 8 medical college hospitals in the country.

In order to ensure energy security and sustainable energy supply
system, we have plans to reduce the use of fuel to 15 percent by 2021 and to 20 percent by 2030, she added. 

Hasina said that some mega projects are being implemented at Paira, Moheshkhali and Materbari classifying these areas as power hub.

Mentioning that the government has formulated ‘Bangladesh Delta Plan 2100’, the premier said implementation of the mega plan will require a huge investment of 2.5 percent of total GDP of which 2.0 percent would have be met from public sector and the rest 0.5 percent from the private sector.

To facilitate rehabilitation of the people affected by river erosion, Tk 100 crore has been allocated in the proposed budget.

The size of the proposed budget for FY2019-20 is Tk. 5,23,190 crore, which is eight times higher than that in FY2005-06.
