DHAKA: Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) detained three persons for mixing color into beef and selling buffalo meat claiming beef in New Market of the capital.
Executive magistrate of RAB Headquarters Sarwar Alom fined two shops Taka 40,000 and seized 6 tons of meat on Monday (May 27).
Sarwar Alom said: “Meat turned pale because it was preserved in refrigerator for long. Dishonest businessmen mixed color to make it appear fresh.”
“Besides, buffalo meat, imported from India, was being sold as beef,” Sarwar Alom also said.
