Malibagh cocktail was powerful: DMP boss

DHAKA: Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Mohammad Asaduzzaman Mia said that the cocktail that blasted at Malibagh intersection in the capital on Sunday (May 26) was powerful than the general cocktail.

DMP Commissioner told this after visiting rickshaw puller Lal Miah at Dhaka Medical College (DMCH) hospital around 12:30 pm on Monday (May 27) who suffered injuries in the cocktail blast.

Aashaduzzaman Mia said that the rickshaw puller Lal Miah was injured by breaking the skull of his head. His head was operated last night. Now everything is normal. But he is still not out of danger. Everything that is needed for his treatment has been done.

DMP Commissioner also said Counter Terrorism, DB, CID have collected various evidence from the spot. It is being investigated who were behind the blasts or what was the motive. Bomb disposal unit of Counter Terrorism is investigating the type of explosive of the cocktail.

It is also being investigated whether police has been targeted, or in any other case. It was initially thought that the cocktail had already been kept behind the police van, the DMP boss added.

Any group can do this to create panic, anarchy among general people. It can not be said at the moment whether militant involvement is there, he added.

Earlier the DMP commissioner visited injured female police officer at Razarbagh police lines hospital.
