SIRAJGANJ: Lightning killed two workers and injured three others in Ullapara upazila of the district.
The incident happened at Ramail village under Boro Pangashi union of the upazila around 1:30 pm on Saturday (May 25).
The victims were identified as Idrees Ali, 35, son of Fazal Sheikh, from Raghudighi village of Salanga union of the upazila and Abdul Jabbar, 36, son of Mahir Uddin.
“Thunderbolts struck them while they were asleep inside a makeshift tent in the paddy field,” Humayun kabir Liton, Boro Pangashi Union Parishad (UP) chairman, told Banglanews.
Two of the injured were hospitalized with the one in critical condition.
“Necessary assistance will be given to the casualties,” Ullapara Upazila Executive Officer (UNO) Arifuzzaman told Banglanews.
