  ‘Drug smuggler’ killed in Cumilla ‘gunfight’

CUMILLA: A suspected drug smuggler was killed in a ‘gunfight’ with police on the bank of Gomti River in Sadar upazila early on Friday (May 24).

The deceased was identified as Jakir, a resident of Shashangachcha area of Cumilla Sadar.

The gunfight took place between police and drug smuggling gang beside Paulpara Bridge around 1:30am, said Md Salah Uddin, inspector (Investigation) of Kotwali police station. 

Jakir, an accused of 17 cases, was killed during the gunfight, he added.
