'Drug dealer' killed in Cumilla 'shootout'

CUMILLA: A suspected drug dealer was killed in a reported shootout with the members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) in Golbari area of Cumilla sadar upazila early Monday (May 20).

Deceased Md Selim Mia, 20, was a resident of the same locality.

BGB 10 Additional Director Abdullah Al Faruqi said the drive was carried out on tip-off about drug dealing at an orchard beside Shahapur Madrasa in Golbari.

Sensing presence of the law enforcers, the drug dealers opened fire at them, enforcing the BGB men to retaliate. 

At one stage, Selim was found bullet-hit while his aides managed to flee away.

Selim was pronounced dead by the physician after being taken to Comilla Medical College Hospital (CMCH).
