4 Rohingyas rescued, trafficker held

DHAKA: Law enforcers rescued some four Rohingyas, including three women, and arrested one alleged member of trafficking gang, from Dhaka airport area early on Sunday (May 19) while they were being trafficked to Saudi Arabia.

They were rescued from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport around 4:15am, said Airport sources. 

The rescued and detainee are Arifa Begum, Monika Hossain, Sanowara Begum, Mohammad Omar and Mohammad Abbas Uddin. Of them, Abbas Uddin is a member of the member of suspected human trafficking gang.

Detained Rohingyas have completed all preparations to go to Saudi Arabia using Bangladeshi passports. At 5:40 am, a Gulf Air flight was scheduled to go for Jeddah in Saudi Arabia via Bahrain.

But, National Security Intelligence (NSI) members conducted drive and detained them on the basis of secret information.
