Attempts of terror attack in Bangladesh underway: PM

DHAKA: Recalling deadly bomb attacks in Sri Lanka, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said many attempts are being made to carry out terror attacks in Bangladesh.

But country’s intelligence and law enforcement agencies have remained on alert, she said while inaugurating the first ever non-stop train service on Dhaka-Rajshahi route on Thursday (April 25).

“Many attempts are being made to carry out terror attacks also in Bangladesh. But our intelligence and law enforcement agencies are on alert and takes adequate cautionary steps,” the premier said recalling the memory of Zayan Chowdhury, who was killed in bomb attacks in Sri Lanka.

Urging people of the country to be aware about terrorist activities or terror suspects, she said where terrorist organization is involved in terror acts, it is not only the duty of intelligence agencies to find out the terrors but also our countrymen will also have to be alert. If any suspicions, instantly you should inform the law enforcement agencies. 

“We want peace in the country. Peace can give prosperity. Peaceful environment boosts up the country’s development”, PM Hasina added.

Referring to terrorism and militancy as a global problem, the Prime Minister said the militancy is not only Bangladesh but also global problem. Many children were killed in recent bomb attacks in Sri Lanka. Due to the militancy-terrorism, we also have lost our child Zayan in Sri Lanka.
