FENI: Saifur Rahman Md. Jobayer, one of the accused in the case filed over the murder of Nusrat Jahan Rafi, gave confessional statement to the court admitting that he had poured kerosene on Nusrat’s body and then torched it.
He gave confessional statement under section 164 at the court of senior judicial magistrate Sharaf Uddin Ahmed at 3:40 pm on Sunday (April 21).
Md. Iqbal, Chattogram divisional special Superintend of Police (SP) of Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI), briefed reporters later.
Md. Iqbal said “Jobayer confessed to the court that he had been directly involved in the killing mission. He gave startling confession which cannot be revealed now for the sake of investigation.”
Jobayer was- a classmate of Nusrat, son of Abul Bashar, a resident of Sonagazi municipality.
He was arrested on April 10. He was placed on a 5-day remand on April 11.

So far, PBI and police arrested 20 people over the incident.
Nusrat Jahan Rafi, a female student of Sonagazi Islamia Senior Fazil Madrasa in Sonagazi upazila, was set on fire by some masked men at her madrasa exam center on Saturday morning (April 6).
She succumbed to her burn injuries at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) on Wednesday night (April 10).
