RAJSHAHI: Mango gardens in Rajshahi have been brought under police surveillance as per High Court directive, said Superintendent of Police Md. Shahidullah.
SP Md. Shahidullah said, “A meeting was staged between garden owners and businessmen so that no toxic chemicals are used in mangoes.”
“Rajshahi’s mangoes are exported abroad alongside across the country,” Md. Shahidullah said during a views-exchange meeting at SP office on Sunday (April 21).
At the initiative of district administration, mango gardens in various upazilas were brought under monitoring led by Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) and Executive Magistrates.
Earlier on April 9, the HC directed the government to deploy cops at mango gardens in Rajshahi and other major harvesting areas to prevent use of toxic chemicals.
