FENI: Kamrunnahar Moni and Jabed, two of Nusrat Jahan Rafi's classmates, confessed their involvement in setting the Feni madrasa afire in a bid to kill her.

The duo gave confessional statement under section 164 at the court of Feni Senior Judicial Magistrate Sharaf Uddin Ahammad Saturday (April 20).

Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) Chattogram Division Special Superintendent of Police Md Iqbal briefed reporters at the night.

"The duo confessed before the court that they were directly involved in the mission to kill their classmate Nusrat Jahan Rafi," he said.

"Jabed poured kerosene on Nusrat's whole body. Moni held Nusrat tightly so that the fire can spark well," he added. 

Kamrun Nahar Moni was arrested from Sonagazi on April 15 and Jabed was arrested from Chattogram on April 19.

Both of them were remanded. 

The suspects set Nusrat on fire as she denied to withdraw a sexual harassment case against her teacher Songazi’s Islamia Senior Fazil Madrasa Principal SM Siraj-ud-Daula, on April 6.

On the night of April 10, Nusrat succumbed to her burn injuries while undergoing treatment at the ICU of at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), losing battle for life for five days.

However, a total of 21 suspects were arrested over the incident, till Saturday (April 20).
