DHAKA: Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) imposed restriction on carrying of all types of explosives, crackers as well as explosion of firecrackers in the city on the occasion of holy Shab-e-Barat, scheduled to be observed on Sunday (April 21) night. 

The ban will be effective for 12 hours from 6:00pm on Sunday to 6:00am Monday (April 22), according to a DMP media release issued on Saturday (April 20).

DMP commissioner Md Asaduzzaman Mia enforced the ban under Section 28 of the DMP Dhaka Metropolitan Police Ordinance-1976 (Ordinance No III/76). 

He also requested city dwellers to follow the restriction aiming to maintain the sanctity of Shab-e-Barat.
