‘Top criminal’ killed in Bogura ‘gunfight’

BOGURA: An alleged top criminal was killed in a reported gunfight between two gangs of criminals in Bogura town early on Friday (April 19)

The deceased was identified as Rafid Anam alias Sargo, 22, son of late Liakat of Shahidnagar area of the district town.

The gunfight took place at Subil Khalparh area at around 1:30am. 

Hearing the huge gunshots, several teams of police went to the spot.

Sensing presence of lawmen, gangs of criminals fled the scene.

Later, police found critically injured Rafid lying on the spot and sent him to Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital where doctors declared him dead.

Sanatan Chakraborty, additional superintendent of police (Bogura Sadar Circle), told Banglanews that Rafid was accused in several cases filed with different police stations including murder, extortion and arms. 

Rafid’s father Liakat, also a top criminal in the area, was killed in a reported gunfight with police in 2004.
