FENI: Hafiz Abdul Kader, one of the accused in case filed over the murder of Feni madrasa student, confessed to his direct involved in planning and setting fire on Nusrat Jahan Rafi.

Hafiz Abdul Kader, a student of at Sonagazi Islamia Senior Fazil Madrasa, is an accomplice of the main accused in the case Siraj ud-Doula, who happens to principal of the madrasa.

He gave confessional statement under section 164 at the court of senior judicial magistrate Sharaf Uddin Ahmed at 3 pm on Thursday (April 18).

Md. Iqbal, Chattogram divisional special Superintend of Police (SP) of Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI), confirmed about Kader’s confession to media around 8:30 pm.

Md. Iqbal said “Hafiz Abdul Kader confessed to the court that he had been directly involved in the incident. He, on that day, was at the madrasa gate for the safety of the killers and one of the conspirators.”

“He admitted to his direct participation in the incident as the plan was hatched in his room,” Md. Iqbal added.

With information obtained from other accused in the case, Hafiz Abdul Kader was arrested from Dhaka’s Hossaini Dalan area on April 17.

So far, PBI and police arrested 13 people over the incident.

Nusrat Jahan Rafi, a female student of Sonagazi Islamia Senior Fazil Madrasa in Sonagazi upazila, was set on fire by some masked men at her madrasa exam center on Saturday morning (April 6).

She succumbed to her burn injuries at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) on Wednesday night (April 10).
