DHAKA: Appellate Division of the Supreme Court on Tuesday (March 19) cleared way for widening Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport and constructing the third terminal, by lifting a High Court order that stayed tender invitation process of the project.

The judges at the chamber judge court issued the order responding an appeal from Turkish company.

Now there is no bar for tender submission in the project for expanding the airport and building the third terminal, Civil Aviation & Tourism Ministry Public Relations Officer Tanvir Ahmed told media.

The High Court on March 18 stayed the tender submission process following a writ petition claiming violation of central procurement technical unit (CPTU) policy.

On Tuesday, Attorney General Mahbubey Alam, Barrister Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh and Barrister Md Jahangir Hossain moved for Civil Aviation & Tourism Ministry, at the courtroom.

Terms of Jica will be prioritized as Jica is financing in the project and Civil Aviation Authority Bangladesh (CAAB) made no irregularities regarding the tender process, lawyers told the hearing.
