RANGPUR: Three persons were killed as a covered-van hit them on Rangpur-Dhaka Highway in Pirgonj upazila of Rangpur Tuesday (Mar 19).

The accident happened around 11:45am.

The deceased were identified as—Samsunnahar Begum, 35, Jhorna Begum, 30, and Rezaul Karim, 35, residents of three separate villages of Pirganj upazila of Thakurgaon.

A goods-laden covered-van overturned after losing control and hit a bus of Rangpur-bound Jakir Paribahan in Dhaperhat area, leaving the trio dead, said Pirgonj Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Soresh Chandra.

Two other passengers of the bus were taken to Pirgonj Sadar Hospital with injuries.
