Shimulia-Kathalbari ferry services resume after 4 hrs

MADARIPUR: The ferry services on Shimulia-Kathalbari route resumed on Saturday (Feb 23) morning after around four hours of suspension due to poor visibility caused by thick fog.

The ferry movement was suspended from at 3 am due to poor visibility, said Zahid Hasan, supervisor of Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC) of Kathalbari ferry ghat.

However, the ferry services resumed around 7:30 am as the fog started disappearing.

Three ferries, which remained stranded in the mid-Padma, reached their respective destination.

Due to suspension of ferry services, vehicles remained stuck in a long queue at the both end of the river.
