DHAKA: Bodies of 46, out of 67 killed in the devastating fire at a chemical warehouse in the city's Chawkbazar area, handed over to their families. 

A total of 46 deceased were identified so far and 21 badly charred bodies could not be identified yet. 

As the fridge of the Dhaka Medical College Hospital mortuary is not working, the bodies have been shifted to morgue of other hospitals in Dhaka. 

Sources at the information centre set up by the local administration at DMCH compound confirmed the matter on Friday (Feb 22) morning. 

Abdullah Al Mansur, Senior Assistant Commissioner of Dhaka District Administration, said the identified bodies were handed over to their relatives.

The government is providing Tk 20,000 to the families each victim to lay them to rest, he added.

A probe body was formed. Measures will be taken based on their report. Now, chemical godowns will be removed from there at any cost, he further said.

67 people were killed in Chawkbazar inferno till reporting.

The fire broke out at a chemical warehouse in Chawkbazar area of Old Dhaka around 10:45 pm on Wednesday (February 20).
