CUMILLA:  Passengers were seen languishing as a 32-kilometre tailback formed on the Dhaka-Chattogram highway on Thursday (February 21).

The gridlock stretches from Daudkandi's Gumti Bridge to Kanchpur Bridge.

Now, a two-hour of journey, from Dhaka to Cumilla, is taking 7-8 hours.

Cause of gridlock was attributed to construction work of 2-lanes of Meghna Bridge and increase of vehicles, according to local sources.

No traffic jams on Cumilla side, but from Gumti Bridge to Kanchpur Bridge, said Abul Kalam Azad, officer-in-charge of Daudkandi highway police in-charge.
