DHAKA: Forty nine candidates out of 50 who vied for seats reserved for women in the 11th parliament were elected MPs uncontested. 

Returning Officer (RO) Abul Kashem declared them Members of Parliament (MPs) after 5pm Saturday (Feb 16).

As per the elections schedule, Feb 11 was last date for submitting nomination form, Feb 16 was last date for withdrawing candidacy and Mar 4 was slated for voting.

The voting won’t be held as there was no contestant to each of the 49 aspirants.

Out of the 49 MPs-elect, 43 were from Awami League, 4 from Jatiya Party, 1 from Workers’ Party and 1 was independent.
