SYLHET: A young man was killed allegedly by one of his cousins following a scuffle over land boundary in Companiganj upazila of Sylhet Thursday (Jan 17).

The deceased was identified as Aftab Mia, a resident of Tikadohor village of the upazila. 

Quoting witnesses, police said Aftab had a rivalry with his cousin Iqbal over boundary of his residence.

In the morning, Iqbal attempted to fill a boundary area with soil, forcefully.

As Aftab resisted, Iqbal hit him with sharp weapon, leaving him dead on the spot.

Iqbal went into hiding following the incident.  

Drive has been launched to nab Iqbal, said Companiganj Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md Tajul Islam.

The body was sent to MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital morgue for an autopsy, he added.
