Hasina for instant action against graft in admin

DHAKA: Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Thursday (Jan 17) directed officials concerned to take instant action if corruption occurs in public administration.

“Like terrorism, militancy and drugs, our stance is also 'zero tolerance' against corruption,” the premier was exchanging views with officers of the ministry of public administration.

As part of her inspection program in various ministries after formation of the government of third consecutive term, the prime minister visited the ministry today.

To speed up the work of the ministries and develop the creativity, the premier will visit ministries like her previous terms.

Issuing warning against corruption, Hasina, the fourth time premier of the country, said “A specific instruction must be reached among grassroots that if anyone involves in corruption, he/she will face stern action instantly”.

“We can fulfill the target that we have set… good governance a must for that … Need to build a corruption-free administration…. We have increased pay and allowances, so much. In these perspectives, I think that there is no need to do corruption”, she added.

Calling upon public administration officials to serve the countrymen with sincerity and integrity PM Hasina termed public administration as the heart of the government. You will have to do duty keeping it in your mind…. Discharge your duty with sincerity.

“Not only the seniority; now, efficiency will get importance in promotion at all government offices, including this ministry. Officials who can work more.. Can be able to work honestly… Follow the rules and regulations… All should consider during promotions”, the premier added.
