DHAKA: The newly-appointed US Ambassador to Bangladesh Earl Robert Miller is coming to Dhaka on Sunday afternoon (November 18).

US President Donald Trump declared the name of new US envoy to Bangladesh before discharge of outgoing ambassador Marcia Stephens Bloom Bernicat, diplomatic sources said.

Marcia Stephens Bloom Bernicat became the US ambassador to Bangladesh on February 4, 2015.

The Senate Foreign Relations Committee approved the nomination on October 13.

Miller served as US Ambassador to Botswana.

Before Botswana, Robert Miller served as Consul General in Johannesburg, South Africa from 2011 to 2014. He also was Regional Security Officer at embassies in New Delhi from 2008 to 2011, Baghdad from 2007 to 2008, and Jakarta from 2004 to 2007.

Miller also served in senior leadership positions at six United States missions overseas. He was also an officer in the United States Marine Corps from 1981 to 1984 and the Marine Corps Reserve from 1985 to 1992.
