DHAKA: Election Commission (EC) secretary Helaluddin Ahmed said the schedule for the next parliamentary election will be announced in the first week of November.

He came up with the disclosure to reporters in Agargaon EC building on Thursday (October 18).

The secretary said, “The Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) KM Nurul Huda, during a meeting with representatives of European Union (EU), said the schedule will be announced in the first week of November. The EU delegation called for a free, fair and inclusive polls while the commission assured them all possible measures under law.”

In response to a question, secretary Helaluddin said the EU delegation wanted to know various issues related to the polls including EVM, observers, law enforcement agencies, voter list and process for expatriates’ vote. CEC informed the delegation about polls preparations.
Other election commissioners were also present in the EU meeting.
