3 Muktijuddha Mancha leaders sent to jail after remand

DHAKA: A Dhaka court sent three leaders of Muktijuddha Mancha to jail after three days of remand over attack on Vice President (VP) of Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (DUCSU) Nurul Haque Nur and his supporters on December 22.

Three of them  were identified as- General Secretary of Muktijuddho Moncho Al Mamun and Yeasir Arafat Turjo, general secretary of DU unit of Muktijuddho Moncho, Mehedi Hasan Shanto.

Investigation Officer (IO) of the case as well as sub-inspector of Shahbagh Police Station Arifur Rahman Sardar pleaded Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Shahinur Rahamn on Saturday (December 28) to keep three of them in custody until investigation is over. On the other hand, lawyer Sohag Hossen, on behalf of the accused, sought bail but the plea was denied.

Earlier on December 24, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md. Mainul Islam placed the trio on a three-day remand. 

The activists of Muktijuddho Moncho beat up Nur and his supporters, injuring 25 and 30 at the Ducsu building on Sunday (December 22).
