CHAPAINAWABGANJ:  Six persons who murdered a man in Shibganj upazila of the district were given life sentences by a Chapainawabganj court on Monday (October 28).

Judge Shawkot Ali of Additional District and Sessions Judge’s court pronounced the verdict and also fined them Tk 10,0000 each, in default, to suffer 12 months more in jail.

The lifers were-- Bariul Islam of Shibganj upazila, Tofikul Islam, Shafiqul Alam, Sherajul Islam Fitu, Md. Mahajan and Generul Islam. At that time, everyone except the Generul was present at court

The victim was-- Nayeem, a mason by trade, son of Gias Uddin—a resident of Kagmari upazila of Shibganj upazila.

According to additional Public Prosecutor (APP) Anjuman Ara, Nayeem went out of home on October 8 of 2007. On October 9, he was found dead with the throat slit-opened.

Mother of the deceased filed a case, on ground that he could be killed out of previous enmity, with Shibganj police station. She brought the charge against some unknown men.
