CHATTOGRAM: A court here on Sunday (Feb 10) sentenced a man to death for killing a 10-year-child after rape in South East Mekhal area of Hathazari upazila in 2008.

The convict was identified as Amir Hossain, son of Omar Ali under Bhujpur police station in Fatikchhari upazila.

Chattogram Women and Children Repression Tribunal-2 Judge Md Motahir Ali passed the order. 

Under the section 9(2) of Women and Children Repression Prevention Act -2001 (amended 2003), the court also fined him Tk 1 lakh for killing and rape, in default to serve another year rigorous imprisonment.  

Under the section 7, the court also sentenced Amir Hossain to life term imprisonment for abduction and fined Tk 50 thousands. 
 
According to the case statement, the convict murdered Juli Akhter after rape her at the house of one Khalil Chowdhury in Hathazari upazila on May 17, 2008.

Later on May 19, victim’s brother filed a case with Hathazari Police Station in this connection.

Later, police submitted charge sheet accusing Amir Hossain alias Jamal.  After arrest he confessed his guilt before the court. 

After examining all the records and witnesses, the court handed down the verdict.
