Bangladeshi infected with coronavirus in UAE

DHAKA: A 39-year-old Bangladeshi national in the United Arab Emirates has been infected with the novel coronavirus.

Two more residents of the UAE, including the Bangladeshi national, have tested positive for coronavirus, bringing the total number of people diagnosed with the virus in the Gulf Arab state to 11, the UAE Ministry of Health and Prevention said on Friday.

The other patient is a 34-year-old resident from Philippines.

They were in direct contact with the Chinese patient recently diagnosed with coronavirus and are now in a stable health condition, the ministry said.

Neither of the patients was named, according to UAE authority.

China has reported 75,567 cases including 2,239 deaths. The new virus, which originated last year in Hubei province in China, causes a respiratory disease called Covid-19.
