Shuvoo, Tisha, Faria selected for Banglabandhu biopic

DHAKA: Actor Arifin Shuvoo has been selected to play the lead role in the biopic of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, Bangladesh Film Development Corporation in a notice said on Tuesday (March 3).

Actresses Nusrat Imroz Tisha will play the role of Sheikh Fazilatunnesa (Renu) while Nusraat Faria for Bangabandhu's daughter and the Prime Minister of Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina Wazed, in the biopic.

The Ministry of Information issued a gazette notification in this regard on Tuesday and the Bangladesh Film Development Corporation (BFDC) published the official list of all cast members on their website.

The list of the actors is now available on the website of the BFDC.

Dewan Md Saiful Islam Sayem Samad will act as the role of Syed Nazrul Islam, Shahidul Islam Shachhu as AK Fazlul Huq, and Raisul Islam Asad as Abdul Hamid Khan Bhashani.

According to the partial list, Nushrat Faria and Owaria Zarin Anveeta will play the role of young Sheikh Hasina in the biopic, while Jannatul Sumaiya as the adult Sheikh Hasina. Kamrul Hasan will do the character of Sheikh Kamal, while Ishrak Turja and Touhid as juvenile Sheikh Kamal.

The other actors, who were selected for significant characters in the biopic, are Samanta Rahman (the role of young Sheikh Rehana), Khairul Alam Sabuj (Lutfar Rahman), Delara Jaman (Sahera Khakun), Sangita Chowdhury (young Sahera Khakun), Sharif Siraj (Sheikh Jamal), Tusher Khan (Manik Mia), Fazlur Rahman Babu (Khondaker Mostaq Ahmad), Samu Chowdhury (Quamruzzaman), Khalilur Rahman Quadri (Mansur Ali), Ferdous Ahmed (Tajuddin Ahmed), Tauquir Ahmed (Huseyn Shaheed Suhrawardy), Khadaker Hafiz (General Osmani) and Misha Sawdagor (Ayub Khan).

Renowned Indian director Shyam Benegal was selected to direct the much anticipated feature film under Bangladesh-India joint venture initiative. 

Work on the biopic of Bangabandhu is scheduled to start this year on March 17 and is to be released by March 17, 2021, to mark his birth centenary.
