BSMRSTU proctor Ashiquzzaman resigns

GOPALGANJ: Mohammad Ashiquzzaman Bhuiyan has resigned from the post of proctor of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Science and Technology University (BSMRSTU) in Gopalganj citing ‘personal ground’.

He submitted his resignation to Dr Nuruddin Ahmed, registrar of the university, on Thursday (Oct 30) afternoon. 

Dr Nuruddin Ahmed said he handed over the resignation letter to acting Vice Chancellor of the varsity.

Regarding his resignation, Mohammad Ashiquzzaman told Banglanews, "I am physically ill. So at the moment, it is not possible for me to take any additional pressure, that’s why I tendered my resignation to quit my job as proctor.” 

Acting VC Dr Md Shahjahan said, "I have received his resignation letter. Now, we are moving towards to assign new proctor”.

Earlier on September 30, Dr Khondoker Nasir Uddin has resigned from the post of Vice Chancellor of BSMRSTU amid students protest demanding his removal on allegation of irregularities and corruption and UGC recommendation for withdrawal of him.

Students of the varsity have been staging their protest programme in front of the administrative buildings since September 21, demanding resignation of VC Prof Khondoker Md Nasiruddin bringing allegations against him of sexual harassment, nepotism in recruiting teachers.

Proctor Mohammad Ashiquzzaman has been absent from the workplace since September 22, citing illness.
