Bangladesh urges UAE to invest in agro industries

DHAKA: State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shahriar Alam urged the United Arab Emirates to invest in agricultural processing industries of Bangladesh.

Shahriar Alam made the urge to UAE Minister of State for Food Security Mariam Al Mheiri while having lunch with her at the State Guest House Padma on Tuesday (June 19).

He also requested UAE to import of fruits and vegetables from Bangladesh, said a press release of the Foreign Ministry issued on Wednesday (June 19).

During the lunch, hosted by Shahriar Alam in honour of Mariam Al Mheiri, they exchanged views on different issues of bilateral relations and cooperation especially agriculture, livestock, fish, agro processing, food safety.

At the time, the State Minister of Foreign Affairs highlighted Bangladesh's success in the food production sector.

Mentioning that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s visit to the UAE in February this year was successful, the State Ministers emphasised on implementation of the MoUs signed during the visit with regard to UAE investment in Bangladesh.

Mariam Al Mheiri also invited the Bangladesh State Minister to visit the UAE.
